    DESCRIPTION

    NEW EVP TAPP CLUTCH UPDATES (2024):

    Roller Spider replaces the original button spider to reduce friction at the movable sheave. Benefits: improved belt grip, lower belt temps, longer belt life, and smoother engagement.

    • ROLLER SPIDER DESIGN: less friction for faster response
    • CENTER BEARING: black nitrate coating for hardness, corrosion resistance, and reduced friction
    • LARGER ROLLER: increased from 2mm to 3mm for improved bearing longevity in high-horsepower conditions
    • POST: more material and new heat-treat process to resist slippage when over-torqued
    • MOVEABLE SHEAVE: reinforced towers for greater load capacity
    • CLUTCH COVER: billet cover with larger windows to accept additional weight without modification

    ORIGINAL FEATURES:

    EVP-spec TAPP clutches are calibrated from stock through EVP Paragon, Dynomite (DM), and Desert Storm (DS) turbo upgrades. Tuned for use with the OEM secondary equipped with EVP internals including Shift-Tek Helix and Spring. Kits include full standard weight kit plus tungsten race weights (set of 8).

    • DURABLE PERFORMANCE: Billet construction and high-tech materials withstand extreme heat. EVP has used TAPP clutches on drag race X3 and XPT vehicles. OEM primaries are reliable to about 300 hp; EVP TAPP primaries cover roughly 200–500+ hp across drag, dune, trail, rock, short course, and desert use.
    • ADJUSTABLE & VERSATILE: Two-sided ramps swap quickly. External clickers adjust shift pattern. Roller arms allow mass changes. Multiple springs available for fine-tuning.
    • COOLER TEMPS: Venting and multi-angle curved sheaves lower belt and clutch temps.
    • INSTANT THROTTLE RESPONSE: Centralized mass, low inertia, curved sheaves, and custom ramps improve belt grip and response.
    • SMOOTH, QUIET OPERATION: Ramp-system arms reduce vibration versus traditional flyweights.

    CALIBRATION GUIDE

    There are 4 main adjustable components in an EVP Spec TAPP Clutch:

    • Ramp Profile: Pre-chosen ramps are supplied. Changing profile affects shift behavior and should be done by an experienced tuner.
    • Ramp Angle: Adjust externally via Quick Shift Bolts. Higher numbers raise RPM. Always adjust in opposite pairs to avoid imbalance.
    • Roller Size: Shipped with a predetermined size. Options: standard, +1mm, +2mm. Larger rollers quicken low-end but lower full shift RPM. Change rollers in pairs.
    • Weight Adjustment: Adjust via set screws in the arms and washers on the roller thru-bolt. Add weight to lower RPM, remove to raise RPM. Make adjustments evenly in opposite pairs.
