DESCRIPTION
EVP DISCLAIMER: EVP’s current calibration for the TAPP Secondary Clutch targets X3s with approximately 215-400 crank horsepower. This covers EVP X3 Stock Turbo Tunes and Paragon P43, P43R and P46 Turbo Upgrade Systems. Additional EVP tuning, turbo calibrations, helix angle inserts and spring rates are coming.
EVP worked closely with TAPP through multiple revisions. The TAPP Secondary addresses common secondary clutch issues: durability, roller life, and the need for extreme or dual spring pressures.
On an 800 HP Pro R and our record 43mm Turbo X3 we completed over 100 full high-boost launches without breaking a roller, fastener, or helix. The larger helix diameter provides high clamping force, allowing a mild torsion spring.
- Oversize Helix Diameter: Increases belt clamping force so high-horsepower cars can avoid double springs.
- Larger Helix Surface: Accepts wider rollers to better distribute loads during drag launches.
- Replaceable Helix Ramps: Change helix angles by replacing ramp sections rather than entire helixes.
- Torsionally Adjustable Spring Tension: Helix cap with adjustable slots uses spring torsion as a tuning feature.
- Performance: Less belt slip yields higher dyno numbers and longer belt life; at 400 wheel horsepower the secondary produced a 15-20 horsepower gain to the wheels.
Ships fully assembled with a 42-degree helix and a secondary spring.
