Description
DESCRIPTION
Roller Spider upgrade reduces friction in the movable sheave for improved belt grip, lower belt temps, longer belt life, and smoother engagement.
- ROLLER SPIDER DESIGN: less friction vs button spiders for faster response
- CENTER BEARING: black nitrate coating for hardness, corrosion resistance, and reduced friction
- POST: more material and new heat-treat for added shaft clamp under high torque
- MOVEABLE SHEAVE: reinforced towers for higher load capacity
- CLUTCH COVER: billet cover with larger windows to accept additional weight without modification
- DURABLE PERFORMANCE: billet construction and high-tech materials extend clutch life. EVP has used TAPP clutches on race X3 and XPT vehicles. OEM primaries are reliable to about 300 hp; EVP Spec TAPP primaries cover a broad range up to the 200-500+ hp applications described by EVP.
- ADJUSTABLE & VERSATILE: two-sided ramps swap quickly. External clickers change shift pattern. Roller arms allow mass changes. Multiple springs available.
- COOLER TEMPS: venting, materials, and multi-angle sheaves lower belt and clutch temperatures.
- INSTANT THROTTLE RESPONSE: centralized mass and low inertia with curved sheaves and custom ramps for quick response and strong belt grip.
- SMOOTH, QUIET OPERATION: ramp-based arms ride smoothly with minimal vibration.

CALIBRATION GUIDE
There are 4 main adjustable components in an EVP Spec TAPP Clutch:
- Ramp Profile: shipped with pre-selected ramps. Changing profiles affects the shift curve and should be done by an experienced tuner.
- Ramp Angle: adjusted from outside with Quick Shift Bolts. Higher settings raise RPMs. Always adjust angles in pairs across from each other to avoid imbalance.
- Roller Size: shipped with a predetermined size. Available sizes affect low- and full-shift RPMs. Change rollers in opposing pairs only.
- Weight Adjustment: set screws in arms and washers on the roller thru-bolt adjust RPM behavior. Add weight to lower RPM, remove to raise. Make changes evenly in pairs to prevent imbalance.
