    DESCRIPTION

    NEW EVP TAPP CLUTCH UPDATES (2024): The Roller Spider replaces the button spider to reduce friction between the spider and movable sheave. Result: quicker power delivery, improved belt grip, lower belt temps, longer belt life and smoother engagement.

    UPDATED FEATURES:

    • ROLLER SPIDER DESIGN: less friction in the movable sheave for faster response
    • CENTER BEARING: black nitrate coating for hardness, corrosion resistance, and reduced friction
    • LARGER ROLLER: increased from 2mm to 3mm for improved bearing longevity under high load
    • POST: more material and new heat-treat for better resistance to over-torque and shaft slip
    • MOVEABLE SHEAVE: reinforced towers for higher load capacity
    • CLUTCH COVER: billet cover with larger windows to accept additional weight without modification

    ORIGINAL FEATURES (condensed): EVP-spec TAPP clutches are calibrated for stock through EVP Paragon, Dynomite (DM) and Desert Storm (DS) turbo upgrades. Tuned for use with the OEM secondary clutch fitted with EVP internals, including Shift-Tek Helix and Spring. Kits include full standard weight kit plus a set of 8 tungsten race weights.

    • DURABLE PERFORMANCE: Billet construction and high-tech materials for extended life. EVP TAPP primaries have been used on high-engagement drag race X3 and XPT vehicles. OEM primary is reliable to ~300 hp; EVP TAPP covers roughly 200–500+ hp and varied riding styles.
    • ADJUSTABLE & VERSATILE: Two-sided ramps swap quickly. External clickers alter shift pattern. Roller arms allow mass changes; a range of TAPP/EVP springs are available.
    • COOLER TEMPS: Venting, materials and curved sheaves reduce belt temps and extend belt/clutch life.
    • INSTANT THROTTLE RESPONSE: Centralized mass and low inertia deliver strong belt grip and fast response.
    • SMOOTH, QUIET OPERATION: Ramp system reduces vibration compared to traditional flyweights.

    CALIBRATION GUIDE

    There are 4 main adjustable components in an EVP Spec TAPP Clutch:

    • Ramp Profile: Supplied with pre-chosen ramps tested for general use. Changing profile affects shift behavior and should be done by experienced tuners.
    • Ramp Angle: Adjusted externally with Quick Shift Bolts. Higher number raises RPM (mainly full shift speed). Always adjust in pairs across from each other to avoid imbalance.
    • Roller Size: Shipped with a predetermined size. Available: standard, 1mm oversize, 2mm oversize. Larger rollers quicken low-end RPMs but lower full shift RPM; smaller rollers slow low-end shift and raise full shift RPM. Change in pairs to prevent imbalance.
    • Weight Adjustment: Set screws in the arms and washers on the roller thru-bolt. Add weight to lower RPM; remove to raise RPM. Arm set screws affect low-speed shifts; roller-bolt weight affects high-speed. Adjust evenly in pairs.
