What's the Difference Between a Blow Off Valve and a Boost Recirculating Valve?
Both attach to the charge tube and release pressurized turbo air when the throttle closes to prevent compressor stalling. Each uses a manifold vacuum/pressure port to open the piston when vacuum is present and close it under positive manifold pressure. A BRV diverts the charge air back to the turbo inlet to help keep the turbo spooled and improve boost response during throttle modulation. A BOV vents that air to atmosphere and produces the audible "psshh" sound. EVP BOV
